Fourteen year old George beat his own junior club record with a fine bass of 7lb 8oz, one of two he caught at Branscombe last weekend the other weighing in at 5lb.

George, from Woodbury was fishing a night session casting only 10 metres from the shore using a pennel rig with 5/0 hooks and a head of mackerel as bait.

He landed both fish after a good fight with the fish jumping out of the water at times! George fishes this area regularly and is becoming quite an expert at catching bass and seems to have more success on the smaller tides with the majority of the bigger fish coming after dark. George says: "In order to catch bass you have to be very patient but the main key to my success is that I use fresh baits not cast very far".
