Gard smashes his own club records

THE month of May proved to be a marvellous one for members of the Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society Club as no fewer than nine records were broken.
THE month of May proved to be a marvellous one for members of the Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society Club as no fewer than nine records were broken.It all began with Mike Gard at the Exeter City Open as he smashed his own club record times in both the 50m and 100m freestyle and then set a new 200m freestyle record.In the home gala there was a new mark set by Martha Ellett in the 12 and under 50m freestyle, the previous record standing since 1998!The girls' 12 and under Freestyle Relay team of Chloe Lee, Elzani Singleton, Eve Birrell and Martha Ellett set a new club record for the 4x50m as did the the boys 16 under 4x50m freestyle team of Will Tuvey, Finbar Roberts, Hamilton Easton and Mike Gard.The Cannon A team of Ashleigh Hees, Charlie Pilkington, Eve Birrell, Will Flinn, Rachel Strickland, Jack Moss, Isabel Mitchell, Will Tuvey, Caroline Ball and Olly White swam superbly to set a new record in the 10x25m freestyle.One of the most impressive performances in the home gala came from Ella Griffen, Aidan Spiller, Martha Ellett, Liam Spiller, Rachael Cooper, Edward Taylor, Sam Gard, Mike Gard, Tara Dudley and Richard Lander who smashed the 10x50m freestyle record by almost two minutes.The home club came third in the gala, finishing just eight points behind runners-up Dawlish. In the meeting Exmouth had no fewer than nineteen 1st places, seven 2nd and fourteen 3rd place finishes.One most impressive statistic was that the team did not have on single disqualification!
