Foster secures tight win in Woodbury Park midweek competition

Woodbury Park’s midweek competition had an excellent turnout of 57 competitors, writes Carole Pye.

It was again a close-call for the top spot with Mark Foster taking the honours with a score of 43 points, one better than Steve Bennett (42).

Last Sunday saw the staging of The Presidents and once again this popular annual event was well supported.

The overall winner, Jeff Kamester, came in with 43 points, one better than Tony Townsend (42).

In the Ladies Division, Sara Beaven claimed the honours with a score of 42 points with Zan Nye second on 41.

The Senior Silver Salver was won by Gordon Jackson whilst Chris Turner took the Junior Salver.

The Seniors entertained St Mellion n a friendly match, having drawn the earlier away fixture. Rather unexpectedly, the perfect weather and superb course so inspired the visitors that they edged a victory by 4.5 to 3.5.
