Harry Williams served up an outstanding individual performance as Brixington Blues Under-12s powered their way to a 5-1 win over Sidmouth Warriors in an Exeter and District Youth League match played on a bitterly cold and snowy morning, away at the Sid Vale Scout Centre.
Blues took an early lead with Williams playing a clever one-two with Callum Smith to work his way through the home defence before drawing the glovesman and rolling the ball home.
Shortly before half-time, Smith and Williams combined well again, setting up Luke Ewing to send Blues into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Moments after the restart, Blues scored a third.
This time it was Ewing delivering a cross from the left wing for Cameron Horne to chest it down prior to volleying a terrific strike beyond the goalkeeper.
Five minutes into the second half it was 4-0 as a cross from Horne was touched on to Williams, who hooked the ball home at the far post.
A battling home side struck next, netting with a long-range strike that made best use of the elements – the ball swirling in the wind and creating difficulty for Blues glovesman Ben Jeffery, who couldn’t keep it out.
Blues, though, had the final say in the match when Ewing delivered a pinpoint cross from the right that was met by Bobby Pond and his first time shot was soon nestling in the corner of the net.
The Blues Man of the Match award went to the excellent Harry Williams.
