Budleigh Salterton bagged the points from a 2-1 victory at Axminster Town, writes Alan Beer.

Budleigh were quick out of the traps and went close to taking the lead on 11 minutes when David Lever did well to get a cross into the into the near post only for player-boss Danny Williams to shoot wide.

However, eight minutes before the break the creative Lever once again did well on the right and, when his cross arrived at the near post,

Williams nodding it home to send the Robins into half time with a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes after the restart Lever was again raiding and his shot across the face of the forced Tigers keeper Chris Higgs to tip it away for a corner.

The home side cleared the set-piece and then launched a counter-attack.

Substitute Leo McGuire raced clear of the Robins’ defence and, although Adrian Pullin parried the initial shot, the rebound fell kindly for McGuire to finish and level the scores.

Pullin then did well when he pushed a header from Paul O’Shaunesy wide of his left hand post.

Budleigh stuck to their task and, seven minutes from time a poor Higgs clearance fell to Williams who picked his spot and drilled the ball low into the corner of the net to seal the points.
