East Budleigh Reserves will be mightily pleased with the result last Saturday at Tedburn with a brace from Ben Wilks helping them to a 6-2 victory, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh began well, playing some nice football which was causing the hosts problems and were rewarded when a shot from Wilks found its way under the Tedburn keeper.

Five minutes later the home side equalized, but it was Budleigh who restored their lead before the break when a shot from Nathan Penhallurick hit the post and it was Tom Christian who fired in the rebound.

Budleigh began the second period as they finished the first; Penhallurick with an assisted cross for Joe Walker, who neatly found the bottom corner, but it was soon 3-2 as Tedburn pulled one back.

The fourth for Budleigh was a first and well-celebrated goal for Jack Morgan supplied by a Walker cross, before Wilks added his second and Budleigh’s fifth.

Penhallurick completed a good afternoon, adding his name to the score sheet to complete a fine afternoon’s work.

For Budleigh, Kai Guise had a frustrating afternoon in front of goal, but the main thing for him is to remain positive and calm and his scoring touch will return.

On Saturday (April 21) Budleigh host Cheriton Fitzpaine at Vicarage Road.
