The young Robins of Budleigh Salterton FC took their goal tally in all competitions to over the 100 mark with a comprehensive victory over Beacon Knights when the pair met in an Exeter and District Youth League Under-14 Division Two match, writes SpursTom.
On a cold and breezy morning both teams took time before getting into any rhythm, with the game coming into life with a penalty save by the Beacon keeper Jack Gooding with a quarter of the match completed. He was however, beaten on 25 minutes, and then three more times before the interval as the league leaders took a 4-0 advantage into the break.
In the second period Budleigh made their superiority count almost from the kick-off, showering the hosts with an avalanche of strikes. This sustained pressure resulted in the production of a further eight goals without reply, their opponents struggling to contain them.
The main destroyer was striker Adam Wilkinson with five goals, midfielder Jack May helped himself to a hat-trick, also on target with a goal apiece were Owain Brinkworth, James Bridge, Elliot Mann and Kyle Barnsley. In the end, a job well done following a slow start.
