Will White will get the glory for scoring four goals, but it is the performance of the team that will please manager Mike Graham and assistant Duncan Craib as Budleigh Salterton Under-15 brushed aside local rivals Brixington Blues, beating them 7-0 to complete an Exeter and District Youth League double, writes SpursTom.
It’s another win and the three points it carries means one more step towards the division’s top spot, though Feniton, Cullompton and Moors Youth are three remaining obstacles to overcome in terms of what remains of the Robins’ league season.
The derby saw an even start with both sides looking good during a goalless opening 29 minutes until the deadlock was broken when a Ryan Daffin shot proved too hot for the Blues glovesman to hang onto.
Seven minutes later Will White saw his initial shot well saved, but, when the ball broke back to him he headed it into the net.
The start of the second half belonged to White as he scored three times inside the opening nine minutes! Daffin netted his second to make it 6-0. It was not all one-way, but the Budleigh back line, superbly marshalled by Rory Craib, kept Blues at arms length.
With Budleigh enjoying midfield supremacy it was no surprise that they added another with Lewis Hillier completing the scoring.
