Brixington Blues Under-12s bagged a superb result when they became the first team to defeat the divisions unbeaten outfit, CS Leopards, 4-0 at Withycombe Common, writes Alan Diprose.
Leopards pitched up having conceded just six goal all season, a fact that underlines how well Blues did I this game.
Blues fashioned three chances before leading scorer Will White opened the scoring in the eighth minute after being put through by Jake Diprose.
Captain Luke Buck, a rock throughout at centre back, was joined in exceptional defensive duties by debut making Barna Hudacsek, and the pair were instrumental in ensuring then visitors did not get back into the game. White doubled his tally and the Blues’ lead in the 22nd minute after a piece of individual brilliance by Blues Man of the Match Tom Humphry. After the break Max Rickards, Humphry and Isaac Davies all went close as Blues continued to dominate with Owen Shaw and Scott Simpson-Currie epitomising the team sprit on show by battling for every ball.
Leopards hit the post in the second half, that the nearest they came to denying the excellent Will Cooper another Blues clean sheet.
With the clock ticking down White burst down the wing before cutting inside to rifle home his third goal and there was still time left for Sam Diprose to score with a slick left-footed shot to round things of in style.
This win saw Blues consolidate second position and next up is Saturday’s trip to Exeter Panthers.
