Exmouth Amateurs 2, Heavitree 2

Exmouth Amateurs Under-12s bagged a share of the spoils in a game that began in sunshine and finished in rain and wind.

Ammies took the lead thanks to a neat finish from Sam Wheeler and then they weathered a Heavies storm as the Exeter side came back strongly.

After the break Ammies doubled their lead when a superb free-kick delivered by Max Handford was headed home by Wheeler.

Heavitree then took charge, pressed the Ammies back and, with fresh legs to call on, were able to take the upper hand.

Ammies with a bare nine players on duty began to tire and with 10 minutes to go the visitors’ halved the deficit.

There were just two minutes left when the Heavies scored a second.

Ammies gave much to the game and fully deserved to take something for their efforts. On Saturday they entertain Moors Eagles in a cup tie.
