Exmouth Community College footballers were treated to a visit to Premier club West Ham United.

The visit came before the schoolboys took on Hampton in the last 16 of the National School KO Cup.

The students were able to watch the Hammers players train and then had lunch with them!

Ian Taylor, who took the team to London said: “We are the only school to be invited or allowed to watch West Ham United train. Their staff and players were first class all day posing for photos, giving interviews, signing autographs and even a special song from Alex Song! Manager Sam Allardyce and captain Kevin Nolan gave excellent advice to the boys and were fantastic ambassadors for professional football.

Eamon Swift a former pupil is the first team fitness coach and he kindly set up the visit with the agreement of West Ham boss Sam Allardyce.”

The college team lost 4-1 to Hampton, but can be very proud of their efforts in reaching the last eight, and of course, they also got to savour life at the very top level of the game with that visit to West Ham United.

Ian Taylor added: “I’m extremely proud of the whole squad, they couldn’t of given anymore in the cup run playing some excellent football along the way. For the boys to have the opportunity to train with West Ham’s first team squad and have lunch with the players and staff is something they will never forget. I can’t thank Eamon and Sam Allardyce enough for the time they gave the students.”
