Exmouth Town complete their South West Peninsula League Premier Division season with a double header this weekend, writes John Dibsdall.

Town travel to St. Austell on Saturday (May 5) and then on Monday afternoon entertain Godolphin Atlantic with kick-off at Southern Road for the final league game of the campaign being at 2pm.

In a busy end-of-season period, Town were also in action last Monday evening at Cullompton Rangers, where they recorded a splendid 3-1 win and again last night when Helston Athletic were the visitors to Southern Road (check out how they got on at www.exmouthjournal.co.uk). Town finally secured their first point of 2018 when they drew 1-1 at Torpoint Athletic last Saturday.

The hosts opened the scoring on 20 minutes and they held their lead thanks to a goal-line clearance denying Ace High.

With both sides trying to play attractive football it was no more than Town deserved when they equalised midway through the second half, Torpoint failing to clear a corner, and the ball was finally forced home with Town crediting the goal to High. Town went into the game with four regulars missing and gave a debut to 16-year-old Ethan Slater, while a more familiar face to Town followers, Danny Burwood, rolled back the years when he made his first start for the club since playing in the Western League more than 10 years ago.
