East Budleigh registered their first away victory of the season last Saturday by completing the double over Exmouth Amateurs in their local derby thanks to a 2-1 success, writes Mark Auton.

It was a hard fought win in which Budleigh keeper Rob Dance took the Man of the Match plaudits whilst Jack Howarth and Matt Thomas provided the vital goals

As early as the second minute Dance was at his best denying Ammies the perfect start with two exquisite saves.

Overall the hosts had the better of the chances, many from distance, but Budleigh were more clinical in front of goal; Andy Case and Mike White were both involved as Howarth swept Budleigh into the lead with a first time finish.

The second period was similar to the first with Ammies threatening, but again Dance was always alert and it was Thomas that scored a fine second with an excellent finish from the edge of the box.

The home side gave themselves a glimmer of hope pulling one back from a set-piece, but Budleigh held on for all three points.

Along with Dance, both Dan Reynolds and Case produced good performances.

This Saturday Budleigh will look for equal commitment when they take on Witheridge at Vicarage Road.
