EXMOUTH Town produced a superb performance to extend their current unbeaten run to six games thanks to some cool penalty taking as they made Throgmorton Cup progress with a shoot-out win at Appledore.

EXMOUTH Town produced a superb performance to extend their current unbeaten run to six games thanks to some cool penalty taking as they made Throgmorton Cup progress with a shoot-out win at Appledore.

The hosts had gone into the match as the latest side to lead the Eastern Division table, but with Town on a run of five straight wins and the players keen to extend the length of beard that boss Jody Bolt currently sports - the Town boss will not be shaving until his side's winning sequence ends - the match was set up to be a cracking contest.

So it proved to be, as each side netted three times before, after two hours of action, neither side was ahead and so the tie went into a penalty shoot out.

A brace from Dave O'Connor and a goal from on-loan Exeter City youngster James Berry had seen Town to the shoot-out and then O'Connor, Ali Sawyer
