Shorrock stars as East Budleigh Reserves lose heavily to Silverton

After holding Silverton to a draw the previous week East Budleigh Reserves were well beaten in the re-match last Saturday, going down 5-1 to the Mid Devon side, writes Mark Auton.

Three first half goals for the away side saw them take control and without the intervention of Budleigh keeper Drew Shorrock it may well have been a lot worse.

Tom Christian fired over from Budleigh’s only first half chance.

The second half was a bit better from Budleigh; the introduction of Max Tooby and Ross Szender improved them and both went close following a Simon Pearce free-kick.

Shorrock made a couple of top drawer saves, but was unable to prevent a fourth for the away side.

Arnold Godbeer went close after Tooby had cut back Keiron Tullet’s centre before scoring Budleigh’s consolation; Tooby claimed the assist with a fine throughball for the striker who finished tidily.

A late fifth for Silverton completed a bad day at the office.

Budleigh visit Ottery St Mary on Saturday and need to know their best starting eleven before falling too far adrift at the wrong end of the table.
