Archant

Budleigh Salterton Reserves made it two wins in as many outings as they won their Macron League Division Three game at North Tawton 4-0, writes SpursTom.

Having beaten the West Devon-based side earlier in the campaign at Greenway Lane, this latest success means a league ‘double’ for the Robins.

The home side played down what was a significant slope and did much of the early attacking. However, once the Robins found their feet and got their own game going they grew in confidence and scored three times before the contest was 32 minutes old.

First to strike was midfielder Sam Glanville with a cool finish on eight minutes and three minutes later it was 2-0 with Matt Skinner providing the assist for Tom Christian.

The third goal came on 31 minutes when Christian turned provider with his well-flighted corner being headed home by Morgan Johnson.

Shortly after falling three goals down, the home side lost two of their players to a fire call-out, but within 10 minutes one of the firemen returned and the home side played the remainder of the first half with 10 men.

The second half was not as productive as the first, but there was the occasional burst of fine football and the only goal saw Christian net his second. The clean sheet was richly deserved by goalkeeper Simon Savage and his back line of Alex Weeks, Jordan Bennington, Acherf Ghanmi and Matt Skinner.

On Saturday (October 13) the Robins second team host an East Devon derby with the visitors being East Budleigh 1st team (3pm).
