Budleigh salterton are bury preparing for the South West Peninsula League’s Eastern Division biggest match of the season to date when first meet second at Greenway Lane on Saturday afternoon.

GREENWAY Lane, Budleigh stages the match of the South West Peninsula League season to date this coming weekend, writes Steve Birley.

The reason for such a high billing of the Robins clash with Liverton United (3pm) is because the two sides sit first and second in the table, separated by just a single point and so the game is also a case of, winners to sit top of the table on Saturday night!

The Robins warmed up for the meeting with the table toppers with an outstanding display at Teignmouth where they became the first team this term to defeat the south coast side on their own patch.

It has been quite a run in recent weeks for the Greenway Lane men. They head into Saturday’s game looking to secure a sixth successive home League success this term and it is almost five hours since the Robins last conceded a League goal - home or away!

This season they have already beaten Bickleigh, Totnes and Dartington, Axminster Town, Newton Abbot and Exeter Civil Service at Greenway Lane, scoring an impressive 24 goals in the five home games to date!

Counter that with saturday’s opponents Liverton having yet to lose, home or away, and we have the ingredients for a very special encounter indeed.
