Robinettes net a round dozen in home win over University of Plymouth

Budleigh Salterton ladies racked up a comprehensive 12-2 victory when they entertained University of Plymouth in a Westward Developments Devon Womens League Division One match, writes SpursTom.

No fewer than three of the Robinettes scofred hat-tricks in a thoroughly impressive – and clinical – all-round display.

Despite the eye-catching nature of the final score, the contest was billed as a battle for a top three finish and a close encounter was anticipate. However, it proved anything but as the Robinettes scores five before the break and netted another seven in the second half.

The students were only able to field a bare eleven and, on a warm Sunday afternoon, their inability to offer fresh legs, probably contributed to the final score.

The Robinettes goals were scored by Jen Coldwell (3), Bec Long (3), Amy Salter (3), Leah Rawlings (2) and Sara Burke.

Though home goal keeper Katherine Binmore was beaten twice by the visitors, she pulled off a fantastic save early in the second period from a slick counter-attack.

The sides meet again in a return fixture being held this coming Sunday (May 13), when the students should be strengthened by better availability of players to give us a more realistic and competitive affair. It should be very interesting!
