Exmouth Town reserves overcame a stubborn Topsham Third team to eventually run out deserved winners when they defeated them 4-1 in the first round of the Football Express Cup, writes John Dibsdall.

Last season Town reached the semi-finals of this cup and are again looking for a long run in this competition.

Midfield general Richie Ralph had his shooting boots on as he scored twice from distance and Luke Smith added a third with another fine strike.

A rare headed goal from Leigh Clarke made it four and Town managed to score all five goals as debutant Pete Fletcher was unlucky to deflect a shot into his own net.

Town are without a game this Saturday but are home next Tuesday evening when Newtown are the visitors for a game that kicks-off at 7.30pm.
