THE players and partners of Lympstone Football Club recently enjoyed a lively end of season presentation evening at the Beachcomber bar in Exmouth.Ben Canning was honoured as the 1st team's Player of the Year, Pete Smith as the most improved player and Alan Bassett as Clubman of the Year.Mark Dobrievic picked up the 2nd team top scorer award, whilst Dave Phillips won a couple of awards, picking up the 2nd team Player of the Year and the Sportsman of the Year honours.The club training nights are on Wednesday evenings between 7.30 and 9pm on the large astroturf pitch at Exmouth Community College.While training doesn't start again in earnest until Wednesday, July 1 a number of players attend the regular weekly 6-a-side mini-series that is held at the College pitch.Anybody can attend, the 90 minute sessions cost just £3.All at the club are looking forward to next season, with a new management team of George Webster and Lenny Jones running the 1st Team in Senior 3 and Russ Haldon running the 2nds in Intermediate 3.Chairman Chris Gooding says: "There's going to be a great mix of players competing for places next season, with an exciting bunch of college lads joining forces with the more established players. We can't wait for the season to begin and, with better fortune, we'll be okay next term".
