Exmouth Phoenix 3, Bank United 5

A second local derby inside a week proved more profitable than the previous one for Bank as they ran out deserved winners in a high scoring affair.

Quickly into their stride and went ahead in the 9th minute thanks to superb strike from fully 40-yards by Jamie Drummond.

A poor back pass gave Phoenix an equaliser, but almost immediately the Bank lead was restored when Tom Elliot put a through ball to Warren Vaughan who finished in style.

A Chris Manning cross was headed back across goal by Vaughan and Harry Elliot nodded the ball home to send Bank in at half-time 3-1 to the good.

A sluggish start to the second half saw Bank pay as Phoenix reduced the arrears. A double change followed for Bank and Sam Weaks and Jon Chalkley were introduced. Phoenix struck again to level things up at 3-3.

This promoted another Bank change with defender Chris Manning replaced by midfielder Steve Noon. The Bank lead was restored after Drummond and Chalkey combined prior to the latter chipping the Phoenix gloves man.

In the closing stages Chalkley ran clear to make sure of the points with his sides fifth and final goal.

The Bank Man of the Match award went to Mathieu Peligry who had a fine game in midfield.
