Organisers of the Devon Sports Awards are urging businesses to get involved with the 2012 event, utilising the focus that will be on sport during the London 2012 Olympic year of celebrations.
Sponsorship of the prestigious annual awards offers an exciting mutually beneficial partnership with a number of sponsorship options available to suit businesses of all sizes and budgets.
With the event taking place in February 2012, they are keen to get all remaining categories sponsored as soon as possible to ensure businesses fully harness the benefits available as early as possible.
Active Devon Marketing Manager Helen Pope said “Each year we receive hundreds of nominations and many of our previous winners have close Olympic connections such as Olympic Weightlifter Michaela Breeze MBE (2007 winner), Robin Brew, coach to Olympic silver medallist Heather Fell (2008 winner) and Olympic Fencing Champion Gyorgy Felletar (2009 winner).”
“A number of last years winners were nominated by Active Devon as Olympic Torchbearers and we have recently heard that two of them have been contacted with conditional offers to take part in this chance of a lifetime opportunity to bear the torch across the county.”
“We think of all the years in which to sponsor the Devon Sports Awards, the year that the Olympics comes to the UK, has got to be one of the best, especially as Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls Gorgs Geikie and Keryn Seal have confirmed their attendance at the event and will be interviewed by our presenter Mark Tyler on their hopes and aspirations for London 2012 ”.
Nominations for the 2012 Devon Sports Awards close on Friday, January 6, 2012 and the nomination process is quick and easy with nomination forms available to complete online, or to download at www.activedevon.org/awards2012
Active Devon would be pleased to have an informal discussion with businesses wanting to find out more about the awards.
