East Budleigh Reserves had a mixed week with an away win and a home defeat at the hands of Cheriton Fitzpaine and Clyst Valley respectively, writes Mark Auton.

A midweek starter at White Cross saw Mark Wagstaffe find the net with a beautiful 40-yard chip, and, with Craig Leaman and Simon Tuley adding a couple of goals a piece, they kicked off their season in perfect style. With a 5-2 victory.

Unfortunately, a weakened side took to the field on Saturday, and, after a battling first half capitulated in the final quarter.

Budleigh did take the lead when Leaman directed a fine header over the visiting stopper and into the far corner, but the joy was short-lived as Valley were soon level.

Three further goals flattered the visitors who, nonetheless, ran out comfortable winners. This Saturday Budleigh face a trip to Chagford for their Football Express Cup-tie.
