East Budleigh Reserves were 7-0 winners when they entertained Seaton Town's second team in a Fresha League match, writes Mark Auton.
It took East Budleigh a while to reach top gear in the contest, but when they did they blitzed their opponents with four goals in seven minutes!
The first 38 minutes of this match saw Budleigh have the better of proceedings, but despite winning a number of corners they were unable to unlock the visitors defence.
Seaton themselves could have taken the lead on the break on no less then three occasions, but failed to hit the target, whilst Adam Wheatley had to be alert on a couple of occasions early on.
The first goal came courtesy of Jack Howarth who tucked the ball into the corner when set up by Aiden Martin.
Three minutes later Howarth turned provider as Martin nipped into to make it 2-0.
The floodgates had now opened and goal number three was well worked; Harry Trick and Si Pearce involved as Howarth scored his second with a clinical finish.
On the stroke of half-time Mike White set up Martin who added his second and Budleigh’s fourth.
Four minutes after the re-start Josh Whiller found White who lifted the ball over the Seaton keeper with his left peg and into the far corner of the net. On 57 minutes Dan Atkinson laid the ball off for Josh Sale who delightfully curled the ball into the same corner to make it six.
The final goal arrived on the hour mark when White claimed the assist for Martin to complete his hat-trick.
The final half hour saw the away side defend well to prevent further goals. At the other end they had the odd moment, but keeper Drew Shorrock dealt competently with what was thrown at him aided by Trick, Wheatley, Dan Reynolds and Max Tooby in the back four.
This Saturday Budleigh visit Exwick, whilst the first team entertain Heavitree United.
