Lympstone unbeaten in two trips to Exeter

Lympstone claimed a point from a Saturday trip into Exeter to meet Beacon Knights.
The Lympets started brightly with skipper Chris Eynon rattling the cross bar and seeing another chance saved by the home keeper, both inside the first two minutes!
A Mark Dunne goal gave them a single goal half-time lead, but it did not prevent the team getting a dusting down at then interval with demands that they increase the tempo – and quality – of their game!
After the break the Lympets continued to struggle and they paid for their lack lustre showing when the home side bagged an equaliser.
Late on Lympstone had what looked a good shout for a penalty turned down and also had the ball in the net only for the linesman’s flag to chalk the ‘goal’ off.
In midweek Lympstone were impressive 3-0 winners at Heavitree.
They took the lead when Chris Hooker scored after good work from Sam Elstub.
One quickly became two with Elstub doubling the lead. The Exeter side tried to mount a comeback, but got little change out of the impressive Lympstone defence. When the back line was breached goalkeeper Scott Clayton showed good safe hands.
After the break Benny Canning headed home a Connor Harrrison cross to complete the scoring.
There’s no game this Saturday for the Lympets who are next in action on September 13 when they face Upottery in a cup tie.
