Lympstone 0, South Zeal 0
After the previous weekends disappointing loss to Winkleigh, the last thing Lympstone boss Spike Delahaye wanted was a battle to get a full squad together for the meeting with South Zeal.
However, that is precisely what happened!
On a slippery pitch due to the lunchtime downpour both teams put in a great effort to play a fast flowing attacking game.
The first half saw action at either end with both goal frames being struck a number of times. There were also last-ditch tackles as both defences stood firm and half time arrived with no goals.
The second half began in similar fashion, and this time the frames of the goal were not called into play, but both keepers excelled.
Clearly a game that a single goal would have settled, but it was not forthcoming and so both teams, deservedly got something for their efforts.
Lympstone boss Delahaye said: “The Man of the Match award was a tough choice with everybody putting in a massive effort, but it goes to Tom Porter (just edging out Scotty and Danny Bowden), stepping back up from the Reserves to prove he deserves his place in the 1st team squad with some outstanding tackles in the first half.”
This Saturday Lympstone travel to high-flying Crediton United looking for the win that will get their promotion bid back on track.
