Lympstone went down 4-0 when they entertained Newton St Cyres in a Fresha League Two outing.

The first half was an even affair with both teams playing some good football, but not creating too many chances, with the Mid Devon side producing some attractive quick passing football, but as bright as their approach was, they could not get the better of a solid-looking Stones’ back line and half-time arrived without a goal at either end.

After the break the visitors’ continued where they left off in the first half and took the lead on the hour. Soon after that advantage was doubled courtesy of an own goal and, from this point on, Lympstone heads visibly dropped and two late goals compounded the home misery.

The Lympstone Man of the Match award was shared between goalkeeper Scotty Clayton who did nothing wrong in the game, and Ben Newman, the latter offering non-stop effort from first whistle to last.

The Lympets will seek to bounce back when they entertain another high-flying outfit, Exwick Villa, this Saturday (2.15pm).
