LYMPSTONE travelled to Sandford after a great performance the previous week.

With the Offwell Rangers victory still very fresh in the their minds, the Lympets started well in Mid Devon, creating a couple of early chances.

However, it was the hosts who struck first when a good strike put them one up.

The goal seemed to galvanise the home side and, within ten minutes, they were two up.

At the half-time break, Lympstone boss Duane Greenslade, did his best to try and inspire his side, who were looking nothing like the composed eleven who had turned a good Offwell side over seven days before.

Within a minute of the re-start, the home side added a third to leave the Lympets with a mountain to climb. Greenslade made a couple of tactical changes. Canning was tucked into a midfield berth and debutant Wayne Blatchford was given license to raid down the left flank.

Blatchford fired his new team back into the contest when he tucked the ball away from a corner and it was quickly 3-2 when Blatchford doubled his tally after the hosts had failed to clear the ball.

With a third of the match still to be played, the Lympets could now see a way to turning round their miserable first 50 minutes!

They created further chances with no fewer than four one-on-ones but, a combination of superb goalkeeping and some wayward finishing, saw no further goals added, with the home side grateful to hear the final whistle as 3-2 winners.`

Post match, the Lympets star player award was shared by Adam Croft and Jack Greenslade.
