Lympstone travelled to Plymouth to meet Windsor Car Sales in a Devon Senior Cup 1st round tie on Saturday.

After a great result the previous week the Lympets players were in fine spirit and were looking forward to the challenge.

The game started with Lympstone creating many good chances but not able to secure any advantage, suddenly a breakaway from Windsor ended with a good shot passed an untroubled till then Jordan Hockhold in the Lympets goal 1-0 and against all the play, soon after the half time whistle.

The 2nd half began the way the 1st finished with Lympstone pressing for an equalizer, and they were rewarded with a great finish after a good piece of football by Mark Dunne, unfortunately a couple of quick breaks from Windsor along with some defensive errors lead to 2 more goals from Windsor 3-1 the Lympstone players needed that never say die attitude they showed previously against Uplowman, and that’s exactly what they did a great glancing header from Mark Hobbs and a lovely strike from the edge of the box from a hard working Stuart Tuckett and it was 3-3.

With Lympstone pushing hard for the winner and changes made with Fellows, Evans and Hill coming on for Hooker ,Greenslade and Hyde a long punt up the field by Windsor and a slip by Dan Bowden left the striker to slot home , all the hard work undone and only eight minutes left, The Lympets drove forward in search of that equalizer and in the mess of a corner that dropped in the Windsor box up popped Dale Evans on his debut to poke the ball home 4-4 and soon after the whistle blew, another cup and another stretch of extra – time , Lympstone certainly do things the hard way . Both team tried in vain to get that elusive winner but not even an extra 30 minutes could separate these teams.

Here we go again Penalties and the Lympstone manager gave the names of Dunne, Canning, Tuckett, Hardisty and Bowden to the ref and it was now down to them and Hockhold in goal to decide the outcome of this tie, 1st up was Tuckett who smashed it done the middle , then next was canning who picked out the top right corner then Dunne and Hardisty both found the bottom right corner giving the Windsor keeper no chance up stepped a determined Bowden and slotted it into the bottom corner sending the keeper the wrong way , Then a great Save to his right from Hockhold opened the door and up stepped Josh Hill who smashed the ball to the keepers left and amazingly the Windsor keeper got a very strong left hand to it and pushed it wide , the next Windsor player pushed his wide of the post nerves were playing a part now and it was left to ( G-Man) Conner Fellows to finish the game off and he surely did with a great strike into the top right corner .

A great spectacle and a great result for Lympstone Well Done to all involved and we won’t say too much about the journey home but Wicked!!!! What a bunch of Bayyyys!!!!!

M.O.M Mark Hobbs and Stuart Tuckett
