Bank United launched a new season of Exeter Sunday League football with a 1-1 draw with Henry's Cronies, writes Stephen Noon.
The game, played at Aylesbeare, began at a furious pace and it was Bank who struck first when last season’s top scorer, Dan Jones, opened his account for this term with a clinical finish after some great work fro the game’s stand-out player, Andy Lowe.
Just before the half hour disaster struck Bank when the influential skipper, Adam Gendell, was stretchered off with a ligament injury.
After the break the hosts came more into the game and it needed some timely stops from Bank glovesman Graham Lewis to keep them at bay.
However the impressive keeper was powerless to keep out a late leveller. There was still time left for Jones to see a shot cannon back onto play off he cross bar.
On this performance new Bank boss Adam French looks to have put together a useful outfit.
This Sunday the side play their first home game when they again meet Henry’s Cronies, this time at the Woodbury Common Archery pitches with a 10.15am kick-off.
