Morgan Johnson scored four times as Budleigh Salterton Reserves won their first Macron League Division Three game of the season, beating North Tawton 6-2 at Greenway Lane, writes SpursTom.
Budleigh boss Graham Tapp was rightly full of smiles at the full-time whistle after his side had bagged that much-needed first win, and it was a victory they fully deserved.
The damage was done in the first half as Sam Glanville gave the Robins a 21st minute lead before Morgan Johnson scored a quick-fire treble to see Budleigh into the interval with a 4-0 lead.
The second period was a more even affair. Johnson netted his fourth, but the visitors came fighting back with Charlie Maskell finding the target twice to pull it back to 5-2. However, Budleigh were soon back on the front foot and substitute Gareth Morrey rounded things off with his side’s sixth and the game’s eighth and final goal.
Budleigh will be hoping for a similar result on Saturday (October 6) when they travel to North Tawton for the return fixture.
