ALL footballers playing in the Fresha Devon and Exeter League are going to have to have ID cards to enable them to play in matches.

This was decided at the recent annual general meeting of the Devon County Football Association.

The ID card scheme was rolled out across the Exeter and District Youth League two season’s ago and it was felt then that it may well be a case of ‘seeing how it develops’ before having the scheme introduced to senior clubs and their players.

The basics of the scheme are that all players starting from Under 7’s and above will be required to be registered by the Association to participate in any organised football in accordance to conditions as described by Council. All Leagues that are affiliated to the National FA must use ID cards. All registered players will receive a Player Photo Identification Registration card at a cost determined by the Association. Any lost or mislaid cards are to be reported to the Association immediately with a payment of £10 to cover the cost of a replacement card.

All players should have their Player Registration Card available in case required for inspection at any fixtures and it will become necessary for team Managers and Coaches to exchange player ID Cards prior to the start of matches.

There is to be a discretionary period to allow the scheme to bed in with the end date of that period being December 31, 2011.
