Exmouth Amateurs Reserves were winners by the odd goal in five when they entertained Topsham Town Reserves.

In what was a quiet first half, Ammies glovesman Graham Lewis did well when he tipped a shot onto the frame of the goal. Brett Gloyn kept a tight reign on everything aerially which frustrated the visitors. With Adam Otto proving and handful, Ammies bossed long periods and a Ross Matthew header was the nearest they went to netting.

If the first half was quiet then the second half was anything but!

Within five minutes of the restart Ammies bagged the lead with a25-yard strike from Colin Dougal – that the third goal, so far this term for the right back!

Topsham levelled on the hour mark, and, five minutes later were ahead when a corner was not cleared.

Ammies introduced Achref Ghanmi from the bench and, with 15 minutes remaining skipper Brett Gloyn headed home from a Brandon Hodge cross to level things up.

With Jack Thomas and Brandon Hodge now taking centre stage it was no more than Ammies deserved when, in the dying minutes, Ross Matthews weaved his way into the area and was brought down!

Brandon Hodge smashed home the penalty to give Ammies the win.

Tom Sicklemore is improving game by game and he deserved credit. Graham Lewis also proved his class with his excellent distribution. However, the Ammies Man of the Match award went to Brett Gloyn.

On Saturday (October 10), Ammies travel to Thorverton.
