Exmouth Amateurs under-s began a new season with home games against Okehampton and Lympstone.
In their first game they fell behind to an early second half Okehampton goal.
Chances for Lewis Hillier, Ryan Daffin and Billy Phillips went begging whilst good defending from Ryan Bowyer and Scott Simpson-Currie prevented Ammies conceding more than the second that the visitors netted following a corner and an unfortunate bounce!
Ammies then got on then front foot and were back in then game when Hillier calmly tucked a way a penalty.
Moments later it was 2-2 with Duffy the scorer of a delightful lobbed goal. That was to be the end of the scoring and the sides shared the spoils.
Special mention must got to Ammies keeper Barnie Neilson who had to leave his normal defensive duties for the day, to act as stand-in when usual gloves man Jamie Roy-Crossman fell ill during the warm up.
In their second outing the Ammies took on Lympstone in a local derby! Some fine work by Dylan Foster set up, in quick succession, Daffin and Hillier, top put Ammies two up.
Back came the Lympets to halve the deficit and they would surely have levelled but for some sterling defensive work by Sam Phillips.
At the other end, midfielder Jack Bungay set up Daffin for another to put Ammies 3-1 up.
Hillier then bagged a quick-fire double after good runs from Billy Phillips and Hillier added two more from good team work to finish with a five goal haul and see Ammies to a deserved 7-2 success.
