EXMOUTH Amateurs Under-8s had another very successful Saturday morning, writes Brett Collins.

The young Ammies took on Exeter sides, Central City and Central Athletic, and defeated them both.

Some excellent defending in both matches, particularly by the impressive Barney Neilson, and some solid goalkeeping by young glovesman, Matt Hicks, left Ammies without a goal being conceded in either game!

One of a number of highlights from the action was some neat inter-play involving Jack Bungay and Ryan Daffin, which culminated in a superb headed goal from Billy Phillips.

There were some impressive displays in midfield too, with the pairing of Ryan Bowyer and Sam Phillips responsible for some strong tackling and fine passing throughout the morning’s two games.

With valuable contributions also from Sam Parker, Baily Cochran, Matt Lewis, Caleb Atherton and Scott Simpson-Curry, the future for the Exmouth Amateurs looks to be one that is, indeed, most promising.
