Brixington Blues Under-11s were 5-0 winners when they entertained Culm Sampford Cheetahs in an Exeter and District Youth League game.

Both teams began the game well, but, for Blues, the early impression was made by wing work from Harvey Chantea and Kirills Kononous.

Billy Rowsell fired the first shot – his effort kept out by a smart save before an Oliver Bennett corner was headed past his own goalkeeper by an unfortunate Cheetahs defender.

The Mid Devon side hit back, but they got little change out of an impressive Blues defence of Connor McCann, Joss Beasor and Jason Robertson in front of goalkeeper Corey Young, who made some fine saves.

The lead was doubled with the ‘assist’ down to Ashley Billingham and the ‘finish’ from Rowsell.

The start of the second half saw Blues first-half glovesman Corry Young playing outfield and he took a pass from Bennett to make it 3-0.

Billy Rowsell, who wore the goalkeeper’s shirt after the break, made a fine save before, at the other end of the pitch, Chantea and McCann were involved in the build-up prior to Young scoring his second to make it 4-0.

Robertson went close with a shot and then a header before Beasor provided the pass that Kononous took on before drilling it beyond the Cheetahs goalkeeper to seal a superb team performance.
