Budleigh Salterton ladies visited one of the newcomers to Division One of the Westward Developments Devon Women Football League on Sunday in search of three points to keep in touch with the early leaders, writes SpursTom.

The opposition were Cullompton Rangers, who had previously scored only one and conceded 17, which all suggested a great opportunity for the Robinettes.

The final result proved the Robinettes were right to be optimistic, but they got a shock before the dust settled.

It was the hosts who came out of the blocks quickest, taking the lead within two minutes, and were denied twice by the woodwork as they found gaps to explore.

It all changed between the 18th and 43rd minutes, as Budleigh went from being a goal down to holding a 6-1 lead!

It was Amy Salter who proved the biggest thorn in the Cully side as she scored four goals – one of them a stunning free-kick, which she repeated after the interval.

Salter ended with five goals and the other scorers for the Robinettes were Katie Worsley, Katy Harkness, Tash Holt, Emma Worsley and Sara Dunne.

For Cullompton, the goals were scored by Erin Manley (2), Kerry Broom and Molly Alford.
