Exmouth United U13s win well at Honiton Youth

Exmouth United Under-13s made a superb start to a new Exeter and District Youth League campaign with a 5-1 away win at Honiton Youth.

United made a flying start, scoring in the very first minute when Otto Montgomery-Ames applied a neat finish to a slick passing move straight from the kick-off!

Only the depth of the cross bar denied them second with Nat Cross seeing his long-range strike crash against the bar.

Honiton struck back, but a combination of a great save and fantastic defending from debutant Rossi Mcintyre and Alex Quaife kept them out and, just before the break, Lewis Tose scored from 20 yards to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

The start to the second half was just as dramatic as the first as Tose scored his second, turning home Jack Macdonald-Brown’s in-swinging corner.

It was soon 4-0 as Luca Brind marked his debut with a goal before Andy Maier, who worked hard throughout, scored to make it 5-0.

Honiton, who contributed much to a fine contest, got a late consolation, but United were not to be denied an impressive away victory. For United, there were impressive performances all over with Leo Burgess and Riley Crisp making good debuts while Michael Tapp put in a Man of the Match performance with a dogged display in defence.

This Saturday (September 22), sees United in cup action when they travel to a Moors Youth side that play in Division One, one level above United, who will be seeking to cause a cup upset in Mid Devon!
