Exmouth Town were denied all three points for only the fourth time this South West Peninsula League season when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Appledore at Southern Road on the penultimate Saturday of March.

However, despite dropping points, no harm was done to their big lead at the top of the table as only one other game survived the weather and they served up a real surprise as basement dwellers Sidmouth Town drew 0-0 at Stoke Gabriel!

Richard Pears’ men are now a likely five more wins away fro being crowned champions.

They are back in action this coming Wednesday, weather permitting, when they take on Stoke Gabriel in the semi-final of the Graddon vending Devon Premier Cup.

That tie is at Speeds Meadow, Cullompton with a 7.30pm kick-off.

Town are also in action on Good Friday when they make the short trip to Greenway Lane for the annual festive local derby with Budleigh Salterton which has a kick-off at 11.30am.

Make sure of your copy of the next edition of the Exmouth Journal (out on Thursday, March 28) to read a full match report on the Town draw with Appledore.
