Exmouth Town suffer ninth straight defeat with midweek loss to Camelford

Exmouth suffered a ninth successive South West Peninsula League Premier Division defeat when they were beaten 4-1 by Camelford under the Southern Road floodlights in a midweek meeting.

Camelford began the month of April very much part of the battle to avoid a bottom two finish, but their recent form has improved and they were given a huge boost just before the visit to Exmouth with a Monday night 3-0 win over Godolphin Atlantic.

The Cornish side struck twice in the first half to lead 2-0 at the break. An own goal early in the second half got Town back into the contest, but two more for the visitor’s later in the game saw them comfortably bank the points.

Town have five games to play, but are safe from the drop as current basement side Witheridge will be the team to finish in the berth that will see them swap places with the top side in the Eastern Division – likely to be wither St Martins or Newton Abbot Spurs.
