The road to Wembley starts for Exmouth Town this Saturday (September 1) when they entertain Callington in the first qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Vase, writes John Dibsdall.

There are 638 clubs that have been accepted into the competition and should Town defeat Callington they are home again in the second qualifying round to Bridgwater Town of the Western League Premier Division.

Manager Kevin Hill will be looking to repeat the success Town enjoyed two seasons ago when they reached the fifth round proper having overcome Witheridge (1-0) and Tavistock (3-2) from the SWPL and then three sides from higher divisions, Gillingham Town (1-0) from Western Premier, Blackfield and Langley (5-0) Wessex Premier and Corinthian FC (4-0) Southern Counties East Premier.

The run came to an end at Southall of the Combined Counties Premier where two goals from Nathan Cooper were not enough as Town went down 4-2.

Prize money for the competition will see the winners on Saturday receive £550.00 with the losers picking up £175.00.

Kick-off at Southern Road is 3pm and admission is; adults (£5), Over-65s and concessions (£4) and Under-16s (£3). For the winners there’s a September 15 home meeting with Western League top flight side Bridgwater Town.

If Saturday’s tie ends all square then the replay will take place at Callington next Tuesday (September 4).
