There was no action for Exmouth Town last weekend, but results went in their favour as leaders Budleigh lost whilst another of the high fliers, Newton Spurs had to settle for a point in a draw at Axminster Town.
This Saturday Town face what now looks a tricky game at an Exeter Civil Service side who have quietly and confidently climbed to third in the table after a run of just one defeat in their last nine games.
They will begin Saturdays encounter sitting a point better off than Town, though they have played five more games.
Civil’s recent run includes victories over Teignmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Crediton, Sidmouth and last Saturday a 2-0 success at Plymstock United.
As well as the Budleigh defeat at home to University and the Axminster, Newton Abbot draw, Stoke Gabriel were 7-3 winners at bottom side Sidmouth Town and the South Devon men sit top of the table, two points better off than Town having played two games more.
Following this Saturday’s league match Town are back to cup action with home ties on December 1, in the Devon Premier Cup against Newton Abbot Spurs and then on December 8, an intriguing Throgmorton Cup Tie with SWPL West Division side Penryn Athletic.
