A local football round-up from the secondSaturday of March.

Exmouth Town’s 3-0 Southern Road success took keeps them 11 points ahead of the field in the South West Peninsula League, Eastern Division table.

Town completed two thirds of their league season with the clean sheet success, their 17th win in 20 outings and it was the perfect response to the midweek dropping of two points at the hands of Teignmouth Town. Stoke Gabriel defeated Teignmouth to maintain their challenge and they are now the most likely threat to Town’s title ambitions. Then pair still have to meet one more time in the league.

If Town were to win that game the would then need just 15 other points, or five wins from nine games to be crowned champions.

Budleigh Salterton suffered a rare away defeat, beaten 4-1 at Appledore.

In Fresha league football on the second Saturday of March the headline makers were Exmouth Amateurs who climbed off the foot of the table with a 2-1 home win over high-flying Morchard Bishop.

The Budleigh Reserves match was called off by the match referee who deemed the Greenway Lane surface to be unplayable.

East Budleigh suffered a disappointing single goal defeat at Alphington which does not help their bid to void Division One relegation.

Colaton Raleigh were 4-2 home winners over Exeter Civil Service and that keeps them in the Division Two top six.

Lympstone drew 0-0 with visiting South Zeal and stay sixth in the Division Three table and Exmouth Town Reserves suffered a 10th Division Five defeat of the season, losing 5-2 at Axminster Town Reserves.

Otterton put Ottery St Mary to the sword with an 8-2 win and that leaves them sixth in Division Seven just six points behind leaders Fluxton.
