Exmouth Town have been given a challenging start to their new South West Peninsula League Premier Division season with opening campaign matches against the sides that finished third and fourth respectively last season, writes John Dibsdall.

They open their account with a home fixture on Saturday August 8, against Saltash United and then on the following Tuesday Ivybridge are the visitors to Southern Road.

To prepare for the new season Town have put together an attractive list of friendlies starting with a trip to Axminster, now managed by ex-Town Boss Richard Pears, this coming Wednesday (July 8) with a 7.30pm kick-off.

This is followed by a visit to Barnstaple on Saturday July 11, with a 2pm start.

Town then have three attractive home fixtures welcoming Willand Rovers on Friday July 17, (7.30pm), Truro City, on Thursday July 23, (7.45pm) and a Plymouth Argyle X1 on Sunday July 26, (3pm).

Town then travel to St Martin’s and Bovey Tracey before their final pre-season match at home to Newton Abbot Spurs on Tuesday August 4, (7.30pm).
