Exmouth Amateurs Under-15 girls well beaten by slick Ottery outfit

Exmouth Amateurs Under-15 girls' team were beaten 6-1 when they entertained Ottery St Mary.

There were fears that the rain at the end of the week could have seen this game postponed, but a bright and sunny Sunday left the pitch in a good condition.

Ammies started well and looked to be on top until a goal, on the counter, from the Otters, gave them the lead in the 15th minute.

A second followed shortly after and, when a high ball was played into the area the sun clearly hindered the home goalkeeper and the ball ended in the back of the net to leave Ottery 3-0 up at the break.

Ammies made a confidence-lacking start to the second half and conceded a sloppy goal to fall further behind.

They conceded two more, both clinical finishes by the impressive Ottery centre forward, to trail 6-0.

At this stage a heavy defeat looked on the cards, but Ammies rallied and forced three good saves out of the Otters keeper. They also hit the bar before Megan Humphrey got the goal her performance deserved to act as a small consolation at the end.

Ammies gave their all, but based on this performance, Ottery St Mary will go on to become worthy champions.
