Exmouth Amateurs Under-13s show their quality in a narrow defeat to high-flying opposition

PUBLISHED: 11:07 11 December 2014 | UPDATED: 11:07 11 December 2014

Exmouth Amateurs Under-13s proved a match for the section’s 100 per cent team Stoke Hill before eventually being beaten 3-0.

Ammies made a confident start and kept the ball well making Stoke Hill work hard off the ball. However, the Exeter side shoed their class when, with their first attack, they countered with pace and produced a clinical finish to go one up.

Undaunted Ammies continued to play a neat passing game, but once more a rapid counter led to a second for Stoke Hill before the break.

After the break Ammies were again quickly into their stride and played with a real belief that, despite being two down, they could still get something from the contest.

However, for all their pressure there was to be no comeback and a third late on sealed the points for the Exeter side.

On the plus side the Ammies performance shows that they are capable of living with the very best at this level and, even after this defeat, they are just six points off top spot.
