Exmouth Amateurs under 13s made a winning start to the new season with 4-2 victory over West Exe.

Ammies, beaten twice by the Exeter side last season began well and summer signing from Brixington, Joe Evans saw a shot canon back off the crossbar before Ammies fell behind on the stroke of half-time.

After the break Ammies continued to play a slick brand of football and their industry and endeavour was rewarded when Lewis Cockayne scored twice in five minutes to turn the game on its head. Cockayne completed his hat-trick and skipper Max Handford made it 4-1.

The Exeter side got a late second, but Ammies were worthy winners.
