Exmouth Amateurs are very happy with how things are developing at the Warrenview club as they head into 2015, writes Steve Birley.
In the summer Jody Bolt returned to the club to become the first team manager and he was joined at the club by Adam Reid who assumed the role of club chairman.
The pair have been aided by Rick and Simon Withers, with Dave Leaper also involved, and, given the new management team has not yet got six full months of service in things are moving at a good pace as explained by Reid who says: “Six months isn’t a long time when you look at what has happened at the club. We’re now into the realms of websites, twitter, Facebook and on-line shops. With the assistance of Jody (Bolt) we have made great strides with sponsors over the last couple of months and Ammies is now a club I feel people want to be part of. In terms of playing matters it’s really good that we are now finding players contacting us to come and buy into what we are trying to build.”
The club facilities are slowly being renovated and the playing surfaces at Warrenview have been improved significantly which has led to more youth football being accommodated. Sunday teams have been organised for next season and strides are being taken with a view to setting up both an Under-18s team and a veterans side.
On the field the Ammies senior side currently occupy a mid-table position in Fresha League Division One. They endured a slow start to their campaign, but are currently unbeaten in all competitions since the first week in October and it is not beyond the side to bag a top six finish in what is the second tier of Fresha League football.
The Reserves, with chairman Reid working with Andy Carter, are building a strong case to beat the drop from Fresha Division Three and, with two wins in their last three outings, are heading into 2015 with renewed confidence.
Reid says: “Time will be the judge of all things Warrenview, but I firmly believe the club is on the right track”.
