Exmouth Amateurs eased their way into the last eight of the Firewatch Devon Senior Cup with a 6-0 demolition of Paignton Villa.
The South Devon side pitched up at Warrenviw unbeaten to date ion their South Devon League season, but they departed well beaten thanks to a superb all-round show by a confident Ammies outfit.
The opening goal owed much to the class of James Leaper who beat his man before crossing for Mitchell Codd to head home. One became two in the 20th minute when Robbie Lambert headed home a Darren Carr corner.
After the break the home dominance continued and the threat to Ammies goal was such that home custodian Ben Maddison was severely under-employed!
The third goal arrived in the 55th minute with Simon Withers arrowing a free-kick into the top corner and when Matt Cousins netted the fourth it was all but over with a third of the game still to play!
Further goals were added by Danny Hall and a second for Man of the Match Withers.
Squad. Maddison, Leaper, Withers, Watts, Cousins, L, Hill, Cudd, J, Hill, Carr, Bolt, Lambert, Hall, Bellamy, Dougal.
In Monday’s draw for the last eight Ammies were given an away visit to the lowest ranked side left in the competition, Fresha League Division Four side Lapford.
The full quarter final draw is: Henrys Cronies v Exwick Villa, Landkey Town v Upottery, Lapford v Exmouth Amateurs and Witheridge v Ashburton. The last eight games are to be played on or before Saturday, February 14.
