The footballing juggernaut that is Exmouth Amateurs rolled on when they crushed Lympstone 5-0 in a Fresha League One meeting.

It was a sixth successive clean sheet for Ammies who last conceded a goal back on September 5 at West Exe Rovers in Tiverton. What’s more the last time their defence was breached at Warren View was on August 29 when Budleigh Salterton Reserves scored against them.

The nap hand success over the Lympets was also a ninth straight win from nine league and cup games this season!

A confident Ammies made a bright start and forced a number of early corners – superbly delivered by Si Withers and Josh Hill and it was no surprise when Chris Watts headed them into the lead. It was soon 2-0 as captain Lee Hill cut in from the left before unleashing a cross -cum-shot that the Lympets glovesman could not keep out.

The third, and indeed, the goal of the game, came on 20 minutes with Danny Dawson applying a polished finished to a sweeping passing move.

Just before the break Jamie Williams rounded the Lympstone goalkeeper to send Ammies into the break four goals to the good.

Lympstone came back well in the second half, clearly determined to deny Ammies further goals aside of the fifth one scored by Dawson that rounded off the scoring.

Ammies boss Jody Bolt said: “The current run of clean sheets is testament to the back four of Cod, Riddel, Sale and Watts who, together with goalkeeper Maddison, have become a really solid back line. It’s also been a huge effort by all the squad, but particularly to Josh Hill who sits in front of the back four and breaks up the play of the opposition and he was duly named Man of the Match on Saturday.”

On Saturday Ammies look to make it 10 straight wins this term when they journey to Exeter to face Heavitree United.
